[…and for a moment] ‘the world seemed to shimmer a little at the edges’. The title conjures up a vivid image. It is an event that bookends the day, present at both sunrise and sunset. To this end, the piece seeks to provide a sonic interpretation, the bright, busy, polyphonic opening representing the rising sun moving through to the darker, more homophonic texture of the sunset. The quote above, from the author Neil Gaiman, was my guiding light when I began the piece. I set out to explore the rhythmic kaleidoscope of colours, dancing at the edge of my vision.
